Periodic Updates
Mario – As you all probably know by now Mario, who is employed to work our front desk, has tested positive for COVID-19 and has been hospitalized with pneumonia. We wish him a speedy recovery.
In case you are wondering? Employees are not to report to work if they are not feeling well. If they are not feeling well, once they report to work, they are to inform their supervisor and clock out. If they have COVID-19 symptoms they should get tested. If they have positive results, they are not to report to work for 14 days and have a negative testing result.
Robert found a mobile testing company who will be out this week to test most of our employees here. The lines at most testing sites are really long, and the test results can take at least 48 hours. Hopefully the staff will test negative, for their peace of mind as well as our residents. We expect to have the test results back in less than 48 hours.
While we are in this period of uncertainty, we are asking everyone coming through the lobby to take their temperatures and log in and out, along with their destination. There is no remodeling going on, and the drain line replacement work is done, except for some drywall work which is in the Fire Control Room and the stairway. No new projects are anticipated. That should limit people coming to the building being your guests and service providers; and from the building perspective to essential maintenance workers.
Contingency – As you know the staff are Essential Workers providing Essential Services to you. They all have specialized skills and La Princesa specific training. If we cannot cover absences due to illness, as a contingency, we would not be able to provide front desk services, so the lobby front doors would be locked. If that ever happens, residents would need to use their fob or key at the other entry doors. Packages would be delivered to the Andy Brunhart room, but not logged in or out.
If the Utility Workers and/or maintenance staff is out, we would move some trash bins to the parking lot location. All the trash rooms would be locked. You would need to take your trash out and place your trash in the trash bin. Remember this is only a contingency, and hopefully only for a short duration. Cooperation would definitely be needed!
Mail – There was a question about a better notice about mail delivery. Sometimes it is a bother to wait for the mail only to find no mail or only junk mail.
There is a solution! The United States Postal Service (USPS) offers Informed Delivery. When you sign up for this free service, you receive scanned copies of mail planned for delivery that day. (Not everything is scanned though, like newspapers and flyers). Our experience is that you receive an e-mail early in the day, showing the scanned mails that should be delivered. With that information you can decide whether making a trip to the mail room is warranted. Maybe your winning lottery check finally arrived, or another mortgage refinance offer…can it wait or is it urgent to get your mail?
How do I sign up for USPS?
Open the United States Postal Service website: www.usps.com. Click on the “SIGN IN” link on the upper right. Sign up for a new USPS online account. Select the “Sign Up” button on the lower right. Fill in the details. A “New User Sign Up” page opens.
