Board Meeting Highlights
The Board met on Tuesday, August 16th for their monthly Board meeting and on September 1st for a special meeting. Notable highlights are:
- The Board agreed to work with Blink to set up charging stations inside the upper garage. 8 stations will be needed to meet the requirements of SDG&Es Power Your Drive program. The next step will require a site visit by SDG&E representatives.
- The 12 lottery parking spaces were assigned to owners based on previous assignment and order of drawing.
- The Board reviewed the survey taken of owners concerning the building exterior color and agreed to select White Flour. This decision was again restated at the special meeting on September 1st.
- Three directors were chosen at random to serve 2-year terms. Those directors are: Linda Shenwick, Jan Zobrist, and Walt Booker. Moving forward, there will either be 2 or 3 open spots for election each July.
- An ad hoc budget and Finance Committee was created to review and recommend a 2023 budget. The committee will be chaired by Walt Booker.
- The Board reviewed items to be placed on the 2023 reserve project list.
- The Board approved a draft amendment to the CC&Rs which will allow for the addition of half-baths.
CC&R Amendment Vote
In the first few weeks of October, you will be receiving a packet in the mail with voting instructions, a ballot, and return envelopes. The ballot will only contain a single item. All members are being asked to vote on an amendment to section 8.1(M) of the CC&Rs to allow the addition of half-baths in any location as allowed by Uniform Building Code.
You might remember that a similar question appeared in your ballot packet in 2021 asking for the addition of half-baths in bar sink locations only. A change which would have been limiting for those residents above the 7th floor. This time around, the amendment will not limit the location of the addition.
Inspector of Election
Since 2020, there have been changes made to Civil Code requiring the use of an unaffiliated 3rd party to inspect and ratify HOA elections. This year, rather than hire an outside firm, the Board is looking for an interested volunteer to be our inspector.
If you are willing, please reach out to the building manager to let him know of your interest before the next Board Meeting on September 13th.
Voter List Corrections
All ballots must be physically mailed to your preferred address. If you would like to verify or make changes to your mailing address, please reach out to Mario Deleon during business hours. All corrections should be made before October 6th when the voter list will be provided to the Inspector of Election.
Registering Your Bike Will Help Police Find It If Stolen!
Unfortunately, bike theft is the most common crime in Coronado. The Shores alone experiences a least a dozen thefts a year.
If a bike is stolen, police response is limited if a bike isn’t registered. Please take the time to register your bike on https://bikeindex.org/ and https://project529.com/garage
